Firstly click the triangle by subscriptions in iCal to show “Birthdays” iCal takes this information from the Birthday field in your Macs address book and adds them to iCal. Read the rest of this entry »

Mobile Broadband Unrealistic In Its Pricing?

I have been searching for a mobile broadband package to use for my MacBook Pro when on the move. My iPhone is great and has saved me many times however it is always nice to use a full blown screen when surfing the internet and replying to emails.

After about an hour of researching the latest packages and deals available in the UK I gave up. The top mobile broadband companies (Vodaphone, 3, O2 and T-Mobile) all want to tie you in for 24-36 months to enable a half decent deal. If you are looking for a 12 month contract and a monthly fee of £10 your choice is VERY limited. And you would only be getting a download limit of 1gig a month. 1gig would last me a week at best! Best Twitter Client For Mac

iphone tweetie

So like a lot of people I have started to become addicted to Twitter. What really made twitter work for me was the mobile phone side of things, as Twitter provides so much information that if you do not check your account every hour you will be behind the times!

At first I used Twitterrific which I didn’t like very much, following tweets I found confusing and the app itself didn’t leave me with a pleasurable feeling. From there I moved to TwitterFon a great free app, but slow and a bit basic to look at. Finally I progressed to Tweetie from @stephenfry recommendation and I never looked back! Although I do wish they would implement the contacts button and highlight new tweets like in TwitterFon (then it really would be perfect!).

When I am at my computer I obviously don’t have a need to use my iPhone, however the Twitter website is not as good as Tweetie! This made me search for a twitter desktop application – I soon found TweetDeck from Adobe Air and this was a fantastic app – it did everything I wanted and more with the support for 12 seconds and facebook integration. But something was missing… Read the rest of this entry »

Are Humans The Cancer Of The Earth

Landscape from the skyIt’s quite a heavy headline, but is it true? Are humans the cancer of the earth?

I had this thought when I was on a flight to Bordeaux, France. We were on approach to land but then had to make an emergency ascent, meaning we had to circle to re land. This gave me the opportunity to gaze out of the window a couple of hundred feet from the ground… Read the rest of this entry »

Are Blogs Becoming Our New Magazines?

Google Blog SearchAs you may know, this blog is relativity new, and the reason M-CAT Solutions created this blog was primarily for research and so we are up to date with the times, hence why we tried all the blogging sites before settling with WordPress (which you can find here and here) .

Since we started blogging, we found it strangly addictive, much like Twitter, blogging is a very easy form of journalism. Since starting this blog we have always asked the question “how can I drive more web traffic to my blog” and a recent Google search brought this little Beta gem to our attention. It is Google; but for blogs. Read the rest of this entry »

UK TV Licence Behind The Times

Fish TVToday I got through my annual joy of my TV Licence bill. £142.50! That is outrageous!

£142.50 I can put petrol in my car for 2 months (well I can at the moment check out this link for more information on that). £142.50 I can buy cigarettes for the month (yes I smoke a lot). I could go on and on like this – my point is £142.50 is a lot of money for a service I hardly, IF EVER, use.

Parental Filters – Sex Education Show On Channel 4

Sex Education ShowDid anyone else watch The Sex Education Show Vs. Pornography this week on Chanel 4? I think the way the show was produced was quite good, and bolting the show to website with extra content on there very good, especially for the younger generation that this show is meant to be targerting. Sixth Sense

Sixth Sense (video after the jump – you must check it out!). This is simply amazing, already the potential is massive! I can see the problems that this kind of device could bring, but a stripped down version of this would be so massive in everyday life for all people of all ages.

For me the idea of a projector on my body would massively put me off – however if this device was made into a watch I could switch it on and off at my choosing and then control it with single handed gestures (possibly from a bracelet on the other hand) then this would simply be the ultimate gadget! Programming the device to read products in the supermarket and show me if I could buy it cheaper elsewhere would simply be gold.  Read the rest of this entry »

Petrol Prices

PetrolIs it me or has anyone else noticed the petrol prices sneaking back up very rapidly?

A mere four months ago petrol dropped to the price of 0.83p a litre, down from £1.10+ due to public pressure, which resulted in high media attention, which then in turn made the current (useless) government we have react (on a side note has anyone else noticed the government only do something when the media bang on enough about it!?).

Since the public and the media have calmed down about petrol prices; have you noticed them creep up? At the time of right this petrol for my postcode is as follows: Read the rest of this entry »

Resident Evil 5 (PS3)

Resident Evil 5Last night my lovely girlfriend got me the new Resident Evil on the PS3. I have played all the RE titles over the years. The last being on the Wii (which I surprisingly enjoyed despite the weak graphics!).

So here is my review on first impressions for Resident Evil 5 on the Playstation 3. Read the rest of this entry »

Parking Metres Screwing You

Just had to blog about parking metres and the great scam I believe in why they don’t give change?

I recently went into my local town centre (as this is where my bank is) – from the carpark I parked in I knew I would be no more than twenty minutes. Where is the 10, 20 and 30 min parking tarrifs? Am I the only person in Northampton, UK who needs to park for only twenty minutes?! Read the rest of this entry »

Facebook tagging in iPhoto ‘09

Surprise, surprise it is not as simple as the keynote lead us to believe…

Anyone who has been playing about with FACES in iPhoto’09 and using this to upload to facebook will probably notice it doesn’t tag the people you wanted it to. The reason for this is because you need to enter in the name part of each face on the cork board, the same name as your friend in facebook. You also need to enter the email address they use to log in. Read the rest of this entry »
